NOTICE FOR ACT 34 PUBLIC HEARING

BETHEL PARK SCHOOL DISTRICT


    Please take notice that a Public Hearing will be held at the Bethel Park Independence Middle School Auditorium, 2807 Bethel Church Road, Bethel Park, PA 15102 on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 7:30 PM for the purpose
    of reviewing all relevant matters relating to the
    construction and equipping of the new Bethel Park High    School (the Project) and receive public comment. A description of the Project, including facts with respect to
    educational, physical, administrative, budgetary and
    fiscal matters related to the Project, will be presented and will be available for consideration at such Public Hearing. the booklet will be available from Friday, January 16, 2009 at the School District Administration Building, 301 Church Road, Bethel Park, PA 15102 during regular business hours.     The following resolution was adopted at the January
    5, 2009 Special Meeting for General Purposes. The Board of School Directors of the Bethel Park School District by resolution duly adopted has authorized a “maximum project cost” of $98,800,000 and “maximum building
    construction cost” of $81,440,423 in connection with the new Bethel Park High School. This Public Hearing is being held pursuant to requirements of the Pennsylvania
    Public School Code of 1949 approved March 10, 1949, as amended and supplemented, including amendments made pursuant to Act 34 of the Session of 1973 of the General Assembly.
    All residents are invited to attend. Anyone wishing
    agenda time, or wishing to submit written testimony or both, should contact Mr. Matthew Howard, Board Secretary at (412) 854-8425 until Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 3:00 PM. Additional testimony will be received from the floor at the hearing. Each resident will have three (3) minutes to express their remarks.
    Written comments regarding the project will be
    received by Mr. Matthew Howard, Board Secretary,
    Bethel Park School District, Administration Building, 301 Church Road, Bethel Park, PA 15102 until 12:00 noon, Monday, March 9, 2009.

OBITUARY


CHARLES A. MACIVOR

Charles A. MacIvor, Colonel, USAF,
Retired, age 77, of Del Mar, California,
formerly of Upper St. Clair, passed
away on Thursday, January 1, 2009
after a brief illness. He was born on
November 4, 1931 in Flushing, New
York to Charles G. and Mary Lea
MacIvor.

Charles joined the United States Air
Force in 1953 after graduating from
Stevens Institute of Technology with
a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He later received his Masters Degree
in Aeronautical Engineering from the
Air Force Institute of Technology.
Charles spent the next 24 years
honorably serving his country
including a tour of duty in Vietnam
where he flew combat missions as
a member of the Forward Air
Controllers. During his Air Force
career he was awarded the Legion
of Merit, the Bronze Star and two
Distinguished Flying Crosses among
other decorations.
After retiring from the Air Force in
1977, Charles was with Lockheed
Martin, Marietta, Georgia.

Charles is survived by his wife of
fifty years, June Mixon MacIvor; his
daughter, Mary Anderson; his
son-in-law, Michael Anderson;
grandchildren, Kelly, Mac and Jenna
of San Diego and nephews, David,
Andy and Paul Fleming. His daughter,
Beth, preceded him in death.

OBITUARY



MARIE V. (DURINZI) HORWAT
Marie V. Horwat, age 81, recently of Perrysburg, Ohio
and formerly of Canonsburg, passed away on Friday,
December 19, 2008 at Kingston Residence in Perrysburg.
She was born January 16, 1927 in Slovan, PA to Domenick
and Anna (Delfrate) Durinzi. Prior to marriage Marie worked in her family’s businesses and received an
associates degree in business studies. She worked for a variety of employers including Kaiser Aircraft, RCA, and McGraw-Edison. On February 10, 1954, she married Stephen C. Horwat until he preceded her in death on October 1, 1999.

Marie was a member of Center Presbyterian Church in
McMurray, for over 40 years. She served her church as
a deacon, elder, and was active in the church choir and
other church organizations. She also was a long-time
member of the Giant Oaks Garden Club as well as an active volunteer for many groups including the Canonsburg General Hospital.

She is survived by her sons, Michael (Jill) Horvat of
Pittsburgh and Matthew (Shelly) Horvat of Perrysburg,
OH; grandchildren, Eliza, Ella, Madeline, Domenick and
Timothy Horvat; and sisters, Katherine Zollars and
Linda (George) Mocharko along with several loving nieces and nephews. Marie was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, John A. Durinzi and her sister, Violet Ciambella.

In honoring Marie’s wishes, there will be no visitation.
A Memorial Service will be held at Center Presbyterian
Church, 255 Center Church Road, McMurray, PA on January 17, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Those planning an
expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 East River Road, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551, Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org .
